David Vogan教授受邀做天元大师讲座

2024年7月19日，应国家天元数学东南中心与厦门大学数学科学学院邀请，美国麻省理工学院的David Vogan教授为我院师生做了题为《The Langlands philosophy and representation theory》的学术报告。厦门大学数学科学学院副院长朱玉峻教授为专家颁发东南中心大师讲座纪念牌。

       本次讲座中，David Vogan教授首先介绍了Langlands纲领的哲学以及自首表示的基本概念，详细阐述了Langlands纲领的历史发展以及引入各种重要概念的动机。随后，介绍了他与Adams、Barbasch关于实约化群的Langlands对应的著名工作，解释了他们要改进Langlands参数的原始定义从而得到所谓的几何参数的原因。

讲座结束后，David Vogan教授与参加讲座的师生们展开了热烈的讨论，并一一耐心地解答了师生们提出的问题。

 

  专家个人简介：David Vogan studied mathematics at the University of Chicago, graduating in 1974. He was a doctoral student of Bertram Kostant at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), finishing in 1976. The following year he was an instructor at MIT. From 1977 to 1979 he was a member at the Institute for Advanced Study. From 1979 to 2020 he was on the faculty at MIT. He was a plenary speaker of the International Congress of Mathematicians in 1986. He was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1996, and a Member of the US National Academy of Sciences in 2013. From 2014 to 2020 he held the Norbert Wiener Chair at MIT.
