We will discuss two types of dualities in a posteriori error estimates for finite element methods. The first is based on convex analysis and uses the duality gap to measure the energy error. The second uses adjoint PDEs to measure the error in a specific quantity of interest. Both methods are based on a simple idea: measuring computational error by solving the same problem from two different perspectives.

章顺, 香港城市大学数学系副教授。美国Purdue 大学博士, Brown 大学博士后. 研究兴趣包括有限元方法, 自适应方法, 模型降阶方法, 科学计算深度学习等。研究工作发表在SINUM, SISC, Numer. Math., CMAME等国际著名期刊。
