In this talk, I will discuss some recent results about the asymptotic stability of Couette flow for 2D and 3D Stokes-transport equations. The Stokes-transport equation serves as a reduced model for oceanography and sedimentation. The density is transported by the velocity field, satisfying the momentum balance between viscosity, pressure, and gravity effects, described by the Stokes equation at any given time. We found the inviscid damping type decay of the velocity for both 2D and 3D models. In the 3D model, we also carefully treat the lift-up effect. The talk is based on joint work with Daniel Sinambela and Ruizhao Zi.

赵威任,美国纽约大学阿布扎比分校助理教授。赵威任博士于2016年在浙江大学获得博士学位,并先后赴北京大学及美国纽约大学阿布扎比分校从事博士后研究。他的主要研究方向包括调和分析及偏微分方程的稳定性理论,目前已在Ann. of Math.、Comm. Pure Appl. Math.、Mem. Amer. Math. Soc.、Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal.、Annals of PDE、Comm. Math. Phys.等国际顶级数学期刊上发表论文30余篇。
