Analysis of heterogeneous structures of non-separated scales for seamless CAD/CAE integration

Numerically predicting the performance of heterogeneous structures without scale separation is a fundamental problem in engineer analysis and may pave a new way in CAD/CAE integration. In in talk, I will introduce our recent approach for constructing new material-aware shape (basis) functions per element for a coarse discretization of the structure considering each curved bridge node (CBN) that is defined along the boundaries of the elements.The shape functions were constructed mapping the CBNs to the interior nodes and were subsequently presented in an explicit matrix form as a product of Bézier interpolation and boundary–interior transformations. The CBN shape function captures the heterogeneity of the coarse element with greater flexibility, overcomes the important and challenging issues of inter-element stiffness and displacement discontinuity across interfaces between coarse elements, and improves the analysis accuracy by several orders of magnitude.The performance of the proposed approach was tested and demonstrated through extensive numerical examples, including a 3D industrial example of billions of degrees of freedom, and comparisons with results obtained from classical approaches were made.

李明,应用数学博士,浙江大学计算机学院/CAD&CG 国家重点实验室副教授、博士生导师,第22届中国计算机辅助设计与图形学大会程序委员会共同主席(2019)。李明博士研究主要关注形性耦合设计,通过先进数学理论和信息技术,提升结构设计的性能和效率。目前主要聚焦CAD/CAE一体化、多孔模型设计、拓扑优化等方面。相关研究工作发表在计算机辅助设计,计算工程学的国际顶级期刊或会议上,含JCAD, CMAME, IJNME, C&SACM SPM等,发表相关方向论文50余篇,研究工作受到自然科学基金、科技部重点研发,以及多家企业横向课题的支持。
