In 1966, Mark Kac asked the famous question “Can one hear the shape of a Drum ?”. In his article with this question as the title, he translates this question to eigenvalue problems of a domain in R^2. That is, can you tell the shape of a domain if eigenvalues are known. This question can be generalized from Euclidean spaces to curved spaces, especially non-compact manifolds. In this talk, we will recall the history of this classic question first. Then we will explain the generalized question in manifolds and known results. In the last, we will discuss our recent results for non-compact Kahler manifolds in this direction.

个人简介：

王丽涵，美国加州州立大学Long Beach分校助理教授. 2013年在加州大学尔湾分校获得博士学位，曾任加州大学河滨分校访问助理教授、康涅狄格大学访问助理教授。研究领域包括流形上的调和函数、特征值问题、p-Laplace方程、辛流形的Hodge理论等；论文发表于Journal of Differential Geometry, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc., Journal of Geometric Analysis等学术期刊。
