Abstract: Spaltenstein varieties are a class of varieties of substantial interest in representation theory. In general, these varieties are not irreducible nor smooth. A natural question is when they are pure dimensional, that is when the irreducible components have the same dimension. In this talk I'll report progress on this question in the classical cases.
Speaker Introduction:Yiqiang Li,Associate Professor of Department of Mathematics, University at Buffalo. He graduated from Kansas State University with a PhD in Mathematics in 2006. From 2006 to 2009, he worked in Yale University as a Gibbs Assistant Professor. Then he came to Virginia Tech as a Visiting Assistant Professor in 2009-2011. From 2011 he joined University at Buffalo as an Assistant Professor. Now he is an Associate Professor University at Buffalo.
Yiqiang Li's main research interest is on geometric representation theory, especially the interactions between representation theory geometry of varieties associated with oriented graphs. His recent work concentrates on the geometric study of (affine) flag varieties of classical types quiver varieties. He has published about 30 papers, in Adv. Math, IMRN, Sel. Math, J. Algebra, etc. international important academic journals.
