Abstract:

We show that any torus link $\mathcal{L}$ is the union of the one-dimensional connected components of the critical values of the argument map restricted to a complex algebraic plane curve. Moreover, we give some applications on singularities of complex algebraic hypersurfaces and Milnor's fibers. We state some interesting questions and conjectures on knots in general.
