Abstract:

Since the introduction of the ball-covering property by L. Cheng, there have been a lot of interesting advances on the topic. In this talk, we will give a genuine topological characterization of the ball covering property in terms of the dual space. Moreover, the ball-covering property of the Calkin algebra for spaces with unconditional bases will be presented. Open questions will also be discussed.
