Generalized polygons (GP), since originally introduced by Tits (1959）, have inspired researchers' longtime interest and led to a great deal of mathematical efforts. A remarkable fact is that with quite simple definition, a very rich theory of GP and a deep connection between GP and certain types of simple groups can be developed. In this talk, a brief introduction of generalized polygons is given, where you can find: the research background, several interesting examples, a series of recent works, and a glance at future.

个人简介：

华培策，南方科技大学博士后，杰曼诺夫数学中心高级研究学者。2020年博士毕业于北京大学，主要研究方向为群论与组合数学。他在测地线传递图、双本原置换群和广义多边形等课题上均有大量深入的研究，其中部分结果发表在Discrete Math. 等国际组合数学期刊上。
